JB GLOBAL LOGISTICS / DRIVER RESOURCES
The right equipment.
A clearer load match.
Use this reference to identify your truck type and prepare the details your dispatcher needs. Equipment means the truck and trailer you operate, plus the tools available for a particular load.
Equipment reference
These are common freight categories. Confirm the shipment’s dimensions, weight, loading arrangements and equipment needs before accepting it.
| Equipment type | Typical freight | Details to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Box truck / straight truck | Furniture, appliances, pallets and general freight | Interior dimensions, door opening, payload, liftgate and pallet jack. |
| Dry van | Packaged goods and freight that does not need temperature control | Trailer dimensions, payload and available load bars or straps. |
| Refrigerated trailer / reefer | Food and other temperature-sensitive freight | Trailer dimensions, payload and available temperature-control capabilities. |
| Flatbed | Lumber, machinery, construction materials and other open-deck freight | Deck dimensions, payload and suitable securement equipment or tarps. |
| Step deck | Taller equipment and freight suited to a lower trailer deck | Upper and lower deck dimensions, payload and loading requirements. |
| Hotshot truck and trailer | Smaller equipment and freight loads | Truck and trailer configuration, usable deck dimensions and available payload. |
| Power only | The carrier supplies the tractor and pulls a provided trailer | Tractor configuration, trailer compatibility and pickup arrangements. |
| Cargo van / Sprinter | Smaller shipments and expedited deliveries | Usable cargo space, door opening, payload and loading access. |
You do not need every tool listed here. Record what you have and confirm what each load requires. Available payload depends on your actual equipment and operating limits.
